2 Origin of the protective compartment:

With the advancement of financial digitalization in China and the continuous expansion of banking services, ATM machines have become increasingly widespread, and the nationwide interconnection and universal acceptance of bank cards have brought tremendous convenience to people’s economic activities and daily lives. While ATMs are now extensively used, their unique placement has led to persistent security concerns: users’ privacy is often not adequately protected during transactions, and there have been frequent incidents of card information being stolen, causing considerable anxiety among many customers. In response to these issues, on April 21, 2011, the Public Security Department of Zhejiang Province issued a notice on matters related to the installation of protective enclosures for self-service banking equipment at financial institutions. Work is already underway in Shandong, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Chongqing, and Shanghai, with other regions such as Beijing and Anhui following suit in phases.
