2 Origin of the protective compartment:

With the advancement of financial digitalization in China and the continuous expansion of banking services, ATM machines have become increasingly widespread, and the nationwide interconnection and interoperability of bank cards have brought tremendous convenience to people’s economic activities and daily lives. While ATMs are now extensively used, their unique placement has led to persistent security concerns: users’ privacy is often not adequately protected during transactions, and incidents such as theft of card information have caused considerable anxiety among many customers. As a result, enhancing ATM security has become a key yet challenging priority for bank security personnel. In response to these issues, on April 21, 2011, the Public Security Department of Zhejiang Province issued a notice on matters related to the installation of protective enclosures for self-service banking equipment at financial institutions. Deployment has already begun in Shandong, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Chongqing, and Shanghai, with other regions—including Beijing and Anhui—following suit in phases. To better enable ATMs to serve economic and everyday life, to prevent criminals from exploiting ATMs for financial fraud, to safeguard the rights and interests of banks and depositors, and to reduce unnecessary economic disputes, providing robust security protection for ATMs is an essential measure to ensure their proper and reliable operation. Protective enclosures can be broadly categorized into two types: general-purpose enclosures and specialized enclosures; further subdivided into physical enclosures and smart-controlled enclosures.
